Job Description

This position plays a vital role in the delivery of mental health services to inmates within the correctional system. As a Behavioral Health Counselor, you will be responsible for resolving daily inmate issues before they escalate into significant matters or incidents.

You will work closely with staff and inmates to maintain a safe and secure environment, ensuring that services and programs are delivered as designed. This involves developing treatment plans, setting goals for offenders, and conducting one-on-one meetings to resolve grievances or potential grievances.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• A Master's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field
• Two years of related experience or one year of experience as a Behavioral Health Counselor
• Ability to develop treatment plans and set goals for offenders
• Experience in counseling, behavior modification, substance abuse, self-esteem, stress, and anger management
• Group facilitation skills

Candidates must meet certain requirements, including being at least 18 years old with a valid driver's license. They must also be able to obtain and hold a State license and possess basic computer literacy. The successful applicant must pass a GCIC/NCIC Criminal Background check, have a clean Driver's History check, and pass a drug screen.
