Job Title – Digital Communications Specialist
Supervisor: Director of Communications
Job Goals:
To enhance the public relations and communication of the Jefferson County School District through multimedia platforms.
To assist in the management of digital platforms, including but not limited to the district and/or school websites and social media.
To manage creative and graphic design of digital assets.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.
Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in digital and/or social media management or production for a school or business entity.
Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
Possess a strong understanding of website and social media management.
Possess strong creative and graphic design skills.
Possess strong writing and public relations skills.
Possess a basic understanding of video production/editing technology.
Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may require.
Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals, and priorities.
Assists in generating positive media coverage for the Jefferson County School System programs, services, and initiatives.
Assists in promoting the strengths and achievements of the school system.
Performs duties in a courteous and professional manner.
Creates and posts content to district websites and social media channels.
Assists with design, graphics, and layout for district websites and social media channels.
Produces and designs interesting and engaging content for digital media including graphics and written content for publication.
Monitors district, schools, and community social media pages and interacts with the public to assist and answer questions.
Operates still photography and video equipment with efficiency.
Assists with JEFCOED TV productions, as needed and required.
Monitors and reports on analytics of all digital platforms.
Responds to inquiries and requests in a timely and positive manner.
Maintains and submits required reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.
Works with supervisor and department staff to build an audience and expand the reach of all digital platforms.
Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.
Participates successfully in training programs, professional development, or other learning to increase skill and proficiency related to job performance and leadership.
Monitors digital platforms for compliance with website accessibility standards. 18.Maintains confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law.
Models and maintains high ethical standards.
Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local laws.
Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor(s)
Terms of Employment: As established by the Board and applicable state law.
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel
