Job Title - Instructional Transformation Specialist
Supervisor: Principal
Job Goals:
- To facilitate innovation, research, and exploration of teaching strategies and methods in order to create professional development opportunities.
- To assist teachers in gaining a high level of expertise in the digital learning experience and to integrate digital resources into the curriculum.
- To develop the ability of teachers to apply innovative teaching strategies using digital resources.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.
- Valid Alabama Professional Educator’s Certificate.
- Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to create learning units based on current research and best practices.
- Ability to be an instructional leader across multiple settings and to work collaboratively as a team member.
- Proficiency in oral and written communication with the ability to produce and lead presentations through various data sources.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply digital resource skills and teaching strategies for various learning styles.
- Superior leadership, collaboration, and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with large and/or diverse groups.
- Knowledge and proficiency with operating systems, office computer applications, and basic troubleshooting skills.
- Basic skills with traditional instructional technology devices (LCD Projector, speakers, interactive whiteboards, tablets, etc.)
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds; agility and dexterity needed to stoop, bend, lift/move equipment (computers and/or peripherals, etc.) when necessary and to perform technical equipment inspections and/or repairs, including the inspection of cabling in floors and ceilings.
- Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.
Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals and priorities.
- Works within the school system community to promote excellent customer service, effective response times, and provide expert insights into digital and curriculum initiatives.
- Conducts research of innovative techniques and best teaching practices to create professional development opportunities.
- Models and provides training for teachers on how to integrate digital resources into lesson plans and facilitate student learning.
- Works collaboratively with teachers and students to effectively use digital resources during learning activities.
- Assumes direct responsibility discharging multiple functions in a compressed time frame ("multi tasking").
- Provides professional learning opportunities for teacher growth and learning of specific teaching strategies relative to digital learning.
- Provides support to teachers and students with locating current digital tools and resources to accomplish learning objectives.
- Continuously evaluates the effectiveness of digital tools and resources and provides recommendations for implementation.
- Leads professional development sessions at school sites.
- Promotes the ethical use of digital resources and assists in developing responsible digital citizenship among staff, students, and the community.
- Collaborates with the Director of Data Security and Instructional Technology and assists with vertically aligning and expanding technology integration across the curriculum throughout the school system.
- Equips teachers to become independent in instructional delivery using digital resources.
- Provides training for teachers and students regarding the ethical use of digital resources.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law.
- Models and maintains high ethical standards.
- Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.
- Participates successfully in training programs, professional development, or other learning to increase skill and proficiency related to job performance and leadership.
- Serves on school/system committees as required or appropriate demonstrating effective interpersonal skills to work as an effective team member.
- Responds to inquiries and requests in a timely and positive manner.
- Maintains and submits required reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintains tools, equipment, and parts in good repair; efficiently uses time and system resources.
- Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local laws.
- Reports to work in a punctual manner and attends work regularly.
- Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor(s).
Terms of Employment: As established by the Board and applicable state law.
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
