Job Title - Human Resources Generalist
Supervisor: Director of Human Resources
Job Goals:
- To ensure accurate and efficient data entry from various sources for storage, processing, and data management purposes and assist with employee benefits, relations, and induction for new and existing personnel.
- To prepare and analyze data reports, guide workflow processes and perform a variety of complex administrative support tasks.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma.
- Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
- Knowledge and understanding of the informational needs of Human Resource operations.
- Proficiency in oral and written communication skills, including the use of computer application tools and software.
- Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and perform assignments as directed with accuracy, attention to detail, and within established time frames.
- Demonstrated proficiency in keyboarding, data entry and research, managing the use of large amounts of data and record keeping practices.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and function effectively in situations of intense pressure.
- Ability to research and assemble data from a variety of routine and complex data sources.
- Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to perform job responsibilities.
- Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.
Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals and priorities.
- Produces, records, and responds to, as directed, correspondence, research, reports, notices, recommendations and materials needed for efficient department operations.
- Prepares and submits information and/or recommendation for Board agenda as assigned.
- Maintains accurate electronic and non-electronic filing systems of needed reports, correspondence, information, confidential records, records, and data as directed.
- Obtains, gathers, organizes, and prepares for presentation pertinent data and information as needed.
- Coordinates employment processes including, but not limited to, reviewing, verifying and entering employee personnel data into the HR management system.
- Uses office technology/software to complete job responsibilities as assigned.
- Provide verification of employment, work experience, and sick leave balances as needed.
- Contributes to the implementation and utilization of human resources management practices that support the districts strategic plan.
- Positively influences departmental and organizational culture and expectations, including process improvements, automation of workflow, and meaningful customer service.
- Coordinates and conducts the new employee on boarding process and presents benefits presentations to ensure employees gain an understanding of benefit plans and enrollment provisions.
- Plans and administers annual open enrollment period and process changes within deadlines.
- Addresses benefit inquiries to ensure timely and accurate resolutions. Maintains contact with employees and beneficiaries to facilitate proper and complete utilization of benefits for all employees.
- Works closely with the Finance and Payroll Departments to ensure accuracy in employee information and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Completes accurate and timely data entry into all required portals, websites, and spreadsheets for employee insurance coverage, payments, bills, and notifications.
- Performs duties and represents the system in a courteous, positive and professional manner.
- Attends and participates in meetings as directed.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding workplace matters in accordance with state and federal laws.
- Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.
- Responds to inquiries and requests from all employees and the general public in a timely, accurate, and positive manner.
- Maintains and submits required reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.
- Properly cares for equipment and material resources of the school system.
- Uses effective collaboration skills to work as a productive team member.
- Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local laws.
- Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures.
- Performs any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor(s).
Terms of Employment: As established by the Board and applicable state law.
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
