Job Title: Video Production Specialist
Supervisor: Supervisor of Public Relations
Job Goals:
To enhance the public relations and communication efforts of the Jefferson County School District through video production.
To produce and direct content that will be housed on the various streaming platforms of the Jefferson County School District.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
Minimum of five (5) years' experience in news, public relations, communications, or multi-media production in a school or business environment.
Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
Accreditation by the National School Public Relations Association or Public Relations Society of America, preferred.
Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups.
Possess a strong understanding and technical knowledge of video production techniques and equipment including but not limited to video, audio, playback, and graphic systems.
Experience with managing and maintaining an over-the-top media service (OTT).
Possess technical knowledge of various streaming platforms.
Live video production experience including, but not limited to, in-studio programming, meetings, musical and theater productions, sporting events.
Proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently, make decisions and prioritize tasks to accomplish job responsibilities and assignments.
Ability to solve problems as a productive team member.
Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance and willingness to work flexible hours for video production of events.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.
Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals, and priorities.
Directs and produces live and recorded video productions including both in-studio and remote locations.
Ensures pre-recorded content is distributed in a timely fashion to the district's streaming platforms.
Manages and maintains video production equipment and ensures its functionality on a continual basis.
Works with supervisor, department's staff, and various district administrators to generate new, innovative and original content ideas for streaming service.
Plans, coordinates, and schedules video productions with appropriate district staff.
Assesses staffing and technical needs of individual productions and communicates those needs to the supervisor, as needed.
Collaborates and coordinates with outside contractors needed for video production.
Coordinates with on-site staff at remote locations to ensure technical needs are met prior to production.
Ensures the district's streaming platforms contain current content and maintain an aesthetically pleasing appearance.
Maintains confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law.
Models and maintains high ethical standards.
Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor(s)
Demonstrates initiative in identifying potential opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.
Responds to inquiries and requests in a timely and positive manner.
Maintains and submits required reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.
Properly uses equipment and material resources of the school system.
Uses effective collaboration skills to work as a productive team member.
Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local laws.
Terms of Employment: As established by the Board and applicable state law.
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the Board's policy on
evaluation of personnel.
