Overview
Work with a team of individuals dedicated to ensuring a positive voting experience to the residents of Jefferson County. Due to the bipartisan nature of the department, a qualified applicant must be a REGISTERED REPUBLICAN or INDEPENDENT. Qualified applicant must possess mechanical/electronic skills. Although this is a first shift position, some overtime and weekend work will be required during the election center.
Job Skills / Requirements
The Election technician is stationed at the warehouse, located at 1601 W. Main Street and is required to travel throughout the service area. The incumbent is responsible for the upkeep, maintenance, placement and pick-up of all election equipment. The incumbent performs technical and manual work of intermediate difficulty. Starting salary is $36,300 annually.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures accurate and dependable operations of the electronic voting system of Jefferson County
Troubleshoots and repairs electronic voting scanner malfunctions
Tests voting equipment and maintains scanners within inventory
Assists with the preparation, distribution, and collection of all election materials and documents contained in election pouches
Ensures safe, accurate delivery and collection of scanners and election related material to and from their destinations
Answers and responds to calls on election day requiring electronic or mechanical field service
Properly stores and maintains election results
Establishes and maintains adequate inventory of replacement components
Assists with general maintenance or upkeep of election warehouse and its surroundings
Performs other duties as assigned by the manager
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Kentucky resident
Able to be bonded
Knowledge of mechanics and electronics
Ability to learn the laws, guidelines and regulations concerning the use of election
equipment
Ability to learn electronic voting machine operations, maintenance and repairs
Ability to use electronic diagnostic equipment
Ability to train others in the use of voting equipment
Skill in repairing equipment quickly and efficiently
High school education or equivalent
One year of experience in mechanics or electronics
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is physical in nature. It requires some travel. It requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing. The work requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations. The work at times requires bending, squatting, reaching, with the ability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds.
