What are the responsibilities and job description for the Systems Analyst - Geographical Information Systems position at Jefferson County Commission?
Systems Analyst - Geographial Information Systems (GIS) develop conceptual and detailed specifications for a Geographic Information System (GIS) system to include full integration of GIS software, analyzing and providing solutions to information processing (e.g., processing relational data to map onto a Geo-spatial model). Additionally, Systems Analysts monitor, evaluate, and assess GIS performance and providing a broad support for GIS server and software solutions including user training and system updating and auditing. Systems Analysts design, develop, and modify system applications, databases, and/or programs by meeting with users to identify needs and uses various programming languages (e.g., ASP.Net, Java, C# SQL, Python, etc.). The Analyst has a supervisory role within the department. Systems Analysts conduct training and provide assistance to programmers to provide knowledge and understanding of work processes to ensure compliance with procedures and standards. The Systems Analyst serves as on site administrator for various systems or applications by providing user support, installing system/application updates, and managing user access rights for user systems. There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position. This role occurs in an office setting and there are limited limit physical requirements.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The following are job-related qualifications that are required for employment consideration for this position
- Experience analyzing and documenting user requirements in a business, government or financial environment
- Experience using ESRI tools (e.g., ArcMap, ArcGIS, ArcDesktop etc.) to design and edit GIS systems, programs, and databases
- Experience designing and maintaining geospatial databases (e.g., MS SQL server, relational databases, etc.)
- Experience using programming languages (T-SQL, .NET, Python, etc.)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The following are job-related qualifications deemed desirable by Merit System agencies. These qualifications may be considered by a hiring agency when reviewing applications and inviting candidates to participate in subsequent steps in the selection process.
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited program in Geography, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), Environmental Science, Remote Sensing, Urban Planning, Cartography, or a related field.
- Work experience in a dedicated geospatial or geography-related field.
- Work experience developing and deploying custom Geographical Information Systems (GIS) web content (e.g., Dashboards, Experience Builder, Web Applications, Story Maps).
Salary : $71,905 - $111,550
