Essential Functions
The Facilities Director assumes management responsibility for running safe and efficient day-to-day operations of the health center's physical plant, equipment, utilities and grounds for all properties. Makes decisions pertaining to maintenance duties and staff. Responsible for purchasing maintenance supplies and repair parts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or an applicable trade degree/certificate
- At least 5 years’ experience in such fields as stationary engineering, building maintenance, plumbing and electrical wiring.
- Must be familiar with building and maintenance techniques, equipment and operation of power plants, laundry equipment, plumbing, heating and cooling systems, sanitation, sterilizers, refrigeration, electrical systems, and fire & safety regulations and procedures.
- Understands engineering specifications and is familiar with industrial ordering procedures, government regulations and inspection procedures on such equipment as high-pressure boilers, and state & local building sanitation codes.

Position-specific Requirements
- Supervises the activities of the maintenance department, including all major & minor repairs and operation of boiler plant. Will handle a variety of duties from an engineering aspect.
- Supervises, trains, directs, and evaluates department personnel. Will also make spot inspections of work performed.
- Orders repair parts, equipment, supplies and will keep them at necessary levels using the purchase order system. Will approve invoices that are not supplied with a purchase order.
- Performs duties required by the fire marshal, help the safety director enforce safety rules and regulations.
- Establish and direct a well-rounded preventive maintenance program while investigating new trends and advancements in construction and maintenance. Must exercise initiative and show good judgment towards the hospital.
- Utilizes professional communication and customer service to internal and external partners.
- May be required to make deliveries/pick-ups using health center vehicles, requiring a valid driver’s license approved by JCHC insurance company.
- Carry a 2-way radio. Answer all PA calls as soon as possible for yourself or your department.
- Accountable for the safety, service, people, and finance goals of Maintenance to assure expected outcomes are achieved.

- Must be constantly alert for patient/family emergency situations
