POSITION OVERVIEW:
A data analyst is responsible for collecting, organizing, and analyzing large sets of healthcare data from various sources like electronic health records (EHRs), insurance claims, and patient surveys, to identify trends and patterns, generate actionable insights, and inform strategic decisions aimed at improving patient care and optimizing healthcare operations within a facility or organization; key responsibilities include data entry, data cleaning, statistical analysis, report generation, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to interpret findings and recommend improvements.
Responsible for promoting and protecting the health of the populations Jefferson County Health Center (JCHC) serves, using knowledge from information systems while facilitating key clinical elements affecting quality reporting, patient satisfaction, and organizational performance. Works with organizational leaders and multidisciplinary teams to support quality improvement projects.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A graduate from an accredited school with a degree in a clinical field and at least two (2) years of experience performing similar activities at another similar institution or role
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency with advanced reporting tools, e.g., Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, and Crystal reports.
- Understanding statistical methods like regression analysis, hypothesis testing, and predictive modeling.
- Understand Quality Improvement initiatives and reporting functions in tracking improvement progress.

POSITION-SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Prudent use of financial resources and good stewardship in using JCHC supplies and services.
- Determine JCHC’s status relative to industry standards and benchmarks.
- Data Collection and Management: Gathering data from diverse sources like EHRs, medical devices, patient surveys, and insurance claims.
- Data Cleaning and Validation: Ensuring data quality by identifying and correcting inconsistencies or errors.
- Data Analysis:
- Utilizing statistical methods to analyze data, identifying trends, patterns, and correlations.
- Creating clear and concise reports with data visualizations (charts, graphs) to effectively communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Interpreting data analysis results to provide actionable insights for improving healthcare delivery, cost management, and patient outcomes.
- Working with healthcare professionals (physicians, administrators) to understand business needs and translate data insights into practical applications.
- Ability to clearly present complex data findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Identifying issues within data and developing solutions to address them
- Work with providers and staff on quality improvement efforts, e.g., CORE measures and other quality initiatives, e.g., CMS, etc.
- Identify trends through productivity, quality, and business analytics tools.
- Identifies quantitative and qualitative data and information, identifies trends and patterns that can be used for assessing the health of a community.
- Apply ethical principles in accessing, collecting, analyzing, using, maintaining, and disseminating data and information.
- Use appropriate available technology to acquire and analyze data to evaluate validity and reliability
- Identifies gaps and recommends treatment/program plans for JCHC providers and local employers based on data analysis.
