What are the responsibilities and job description for the Perioperative Registration Clerk - must be RN, LPN or Certified Medical Assistant position at Jefferson County Health Center?
POSITION OVERVIEW:
- Responsible for the clerical work in the perioperative department, including provider order entry.
- Acts as a receptionist and assists in scheduling patients for procedures.
- Assists in planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating the activities in the perioperative department.
- Answers the perioperative phone lines providing information in a courteous and efficient manner that is in compliance with HIPAA Privacy Guidelines, the Health Center’s compliance guidelines and the patient/visitor needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Medical Assistant or graduate of accredited school of nursing. Current Iowa License LPN or RN. Maintain current BCLS certification and Mandatory Reporter as required per hospital policy
- One-year experience in a health center, physician’s office or similar medical facility preferred.
- Computer skills required.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
Reports to Perioperative Nurse Manager and/or Assistant Perioperative Nurse Manager
DIRECT REPORTS:
None
POSITION-SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information. Provider order entry. Schedules patient flow through the Perioperative Department.
- Maintains unit operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
- Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Must be able to operate on-line input terminal
- Must have good time management, organization, attention to detail, quality focused, and demonstrate professionalism
- Assists nursing area with secretarial needs, reporting or data retrieval, assistance with quality reporting, or other duties as needed.
- Assist with maintaining the surgeon block schedule.
- Assist with the rooming of patients as needed
- Assist with call lights as needed.
- Attends all required and mandatory meetings.
- Contacts include but are not limited to co-workers, medical staff, volunteers, patients, and public (in person and on the telephone).
