Job Summary:
The part-time Park Attendant is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall condition of park facilities while providing excellent customer service to park visitors. This role involves regular monitoring of park grounds, assisting with events or programs, and ensuring that park rules and regulations are followed. This is ideal for individuals who enjoy outdoor environments, engaging with the public, and contributing to the upkeep of community spaces.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position will not supervise any staff.
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Assist and attend to park guests, community center, and other outdoor park facilities.
- Welcomes visitors and answer incoming telephone calls.
- Monitors spectators and participants at recreational activities (indoor and outdoor).
- Open and close designated facilities during assigned hours of operation.
- Maintain daily revenue cash collection and prepare appropriate reports at the end of each day.
- Maintain park and program equipment and supplies in a clean and safe manner.
- Communicates with Parks & Recreation Leadership to respond to employee concerns or complaints.
- Perform cleaning duties including but not limited to, clean restrooms, restock supplies in restrooms, empty trash bins, sweep floors, operate floor machine, clean windows and report maintenance issues.
- Assist with setting up and breaking down equipment for park facility events or programs.
- Report emergencies or incidents as needed.
- Provides quality customer service to both internal & external guests.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic math in relation to revenue collection.
- Skill in customer service-related communication skills.
- Skill in communicating with supervisors.
- Ability to earn and maintain First Aid & CPR certification.
- Ability to learn how to use recreation management software.
- Ability to deal professionally with park and facility guests.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule of evenings and weekends.
- Ability to be punctual and capable of working independently.
- Ability to operate a small all-terrain utility vehicle. (Must be at least 21 yrs of age)
Education, Experience and Qualifications:
- A high school degree or GED is required.
- Or at least 6 (six) months’ experience in recreational programs, hospitality, customer service, or related area, or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Candidates must provide a copy of their driving record.
- Preference may be given to those with CPR & First Aid certification.
Physical Requirements:
- The work environment involves both office & outdoor park setting. Exposure to extreme heat, cold and inclement weather conditions can be expected.
- There will be periods of time standing, walking, lifting, and outside time to support park responsibilities.
- Some lifting, carrying, pushing, and / or pulling may be required. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
- Parks & Recreation is a smoke-free facility; therefor smoking and vaping on all company premises is prohibited.
