Elementary Schools
Title: Instructional Materials Adoption Committee Member
Minimum Qualifications: One Primary K-2 and one Intermediate 3-5 teacher from each school. Additionally, two special education teachers.
Term of Employment: 2024-2025 School Year
Immediate Supervisor: Elementary Coordinators
Salary: $40.00 per hour (up to 15 hours)
Responsibilities:
- Establish and implement a communications process with adoption cycle K-5 teachers, LSIC, and parents.
- Evaluate instructional materials options.
- Recommend instructional materials options.
- Solicit elementary school general education teachers’ choice/selection from the WV State Board official multiple list of instructional resources.
- Create/Develop mathematics instructional materials selection criteria
- Participate in a Professional Learning Committee.
- Attend all committee’s adoption meetings and vendor presentation.
- Present instructional materials adoption selection to the Board of Education.
- Attend presentation of instructional materials adoption to the Board of Education.
- Collect/Box return samples upon instructional materials vendor request.
Performance Standards:
- Establish and implement communication process.
- Maintain minutes of committee meetings
- Disseminate minutes to teachers at current employed school
- Evaluate instructional materials options
- Narrow choices of instructional materials selection through input of teachers
- Use the adoption instructional materials evaluation forms provided by the WVDE
- Recommend instructional materials
- Attend all county instructional materials meetings and make recommendation
- Attend meetings and vendor presentations
- Attend the vendor presentation at location TBD by RESA 8
- Attend all county adoption committee meetings
- Attend presentation of adoption to the Board of Education
- Return sample instructional materials
- Assemble materials to return to vendors upon request
Jefferson County Schools is bound by statute to recommend the most qualified applicants for position vacancies. In order to determine those qualifications as set forth by the West Virginia Code, we require all applicants to fill out an application, which includes references, and, in many instances, participate in interviews.
