Description
Summary : Provides administrative support for the assigned court; coordinates and directs court operations to ensure efficient case flow.
Duties & Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions : Prepare Mental order under Article 16.22; prepare Public Safety Report / bail forms; notify all law enforcement agencies on Emergency Protective Orders (EPO); prepare a system to monitor all bond conditions; complete all appointment of counsel forms for both felony and misdemeanor cases; coordinate with translators for the daily assignments; set docket for bond reduction hearings, EPO hearings, bond revocation hearings, and examining trials; issue warrants for bond revocations; notify other counties of individuals who are arrested in Jefferson County but are out on bond from other counties; notify other counties of the need for court appointed counsel for defendants that are in Jefferson County custody awaiting transfer; configuring and reporting the court's activity by submitting Office of Court Administration (OCA) report monthly to the state; notify the Secretary of the State and the Governor's office on all extradition arraignments; prepare all extradition arraignment paperwork; process all paperwork for juvenile detention hearings; answer incoming calls; orders office supplies for the department as needed; ensure that the Criminal Magistrate's office is in compliance with indigent defense on all court appointed attorneys. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.

Education & Experience
Education & Experience : High school diploma or GED; Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunication System (TLETS) credentials required or able to obtain within 30 days of hire; office / clerical experience in criminal court setting preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities : Knowledge of legal documents and forms; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong computer skills including data entry and word processing; excellent interpersonal skills to cooperate and interact with co-workers and deal effectively with judges, attorneys, defendants, law enforcement agencies, bail bond agencies, and the general public; excellent typing skills; knowledge of the Texas Criminal Justice System, the organizations within the system and the functions of each. Must be proficient in Enterprise Justice (Odyssey).
Equipment Used : Personal computer / mainframe computer terminal; multi-line telephone system; copy machine; fax machine; other general office equipment as needed.
Work Situations / Demands / Efforts : Work requires organizing; prioritizing; accuracy; attention to detail; working alone; dealing with the public; flexibility in order to perform a variety of duties; performing routine, repetitive duties; meeting frequent deadlines. Employee works independently within established guidelines and timeframe. Must be available to begin workday at 7 : 00 AM, Monday through Friday, and other hours as required by job demands.
Working Conditions : Work is primarily performed in a climate controlled office environment which is shared with co-workers and is readily accessible to other employees. Work is occasionally performed inside Jefferson County Correctional Facility.
Physical Requirements : Work is primarily sedentary. Duties require frequent prolonged sitting; reaching, lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 10 lbs., such as files, records, and supplies; walking to courthouse and within office to deliver / retrieve files and paperwork. Occasional travel to Jefferson County Correctional Facility required.
