Summary: Performs general clerical duties in support of the Family Law/Domestic Relations Department. Provides assistance and information to the general public.
Duties & Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions: Prepares citations, writs, notices and other legal instruments to be served; generate certified documents; assists with answering incoming telephone calls; provides assistance and information within scope of knowledge and responsibility; assists with daily mail, registers and dockets; assists clients at counter; collects filing fees; generates receipts and records payments; balances daily cash and credit card transactions; accepts new cases and subsequent filings through E-filing system; assists with updating and maintaining files in accordance with established procedures; assists with processing paperwork, forms and files for Attorney General cases. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
Other Job Functions: Pulls files, researches cases as requested; performs other job related duties as directed.

Education & Experience
Education & Experience: High school diploma or GED; Paralegal Studies education a plus; knowledge of general clerical and data entry functions; 1 to 2 years of related legal Family Law or Civil experience. Bilingual preferred.
Specialized Requirements: Subject to comprehensive background check.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Strong verbal and written communication skills; math computation ability; strong typing skills; effective interpersonal skills in order to interact and cooperate with co-workers and to deal effectively with attorneys, court personnel, law enforcement personnel, Attorney General’s Office, and the general public. Knowledge of E-filing system, Enterprise Justice CMS, fax/copy equipment. Familiarity with family law proceedings a plus. Must maintain confidentiality of case information.
Equipment Used: Personal computer/network; 10-key adding machine/calculator; copy machine; other general office equipment as needed.
Work Situations/Demands/Efforts: Must be able to work in a fast-paced and often stressful environment with multiple interruptions. Work requires multitasking, organizing, prioritizing, accuracy and attention to detail. Must be able to work alone or as part of a group and be flexible in order to perform and coordinate a variety of duties; must be able to handle a high volume of telephone calls and customers; must be dependable and a team player.
Working Conditions: Work is performed primarily in a climate controlled open office environment which is shared with other employees and is readily accessible to the general public; heavy office traffic may cause distraction and interrupt duties. Must be available to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Physical Requirements: Work is primarily sedentary; duties require walking and/or standing to work at counter, deliver or retrieve paperwork in other offices or departments; frequent prolonged standing to work at counter and to do filing; frequent reaching, lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 10 lbs.
