Summary: Under general supervision, performs accounting, auditing, and financial analysis of a variety of departments and topics of moderate to advanced complexity.
Duties & Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions: Performs highly complex professional accounting services using standardized methods and procedures to perform financial analysis and budgetary functions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and county policies. Prepares highly complex reports and financial statements. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
Other Job Functions: Performs other job related duties, as directed.

Education & Experience
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and at least two years accounting and/or auditing experience. Good working knowledge of governmental accounting, auditing, budgeting, and financial reporting. Good working knowledge of Federal and State Grant rules, regulations, and reporting requirements preferred.
Specialized Requirements: Valid Texas Driver’s License.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Knowledge of: Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); of standardized financial practices; of federal, state and local government code; of computer systems and standardized financial/accounting software. Skill in entering and reconciling financial data and completing financial reports; and in reviewing accounting systems and processes, and recommending improvements. Ability to analyze, calculate, consolidate, reconcile, and interpret accounting data and identify errors; cash handling, fixed assets, inventory control and audit procedures; methods and techniques of financial analysis; AS400 system and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Skill in: performing special projects, financial analysis of county operations and functions; governmental accounting, auditing, budgeting, and financial reporting; utilizing financial systems and equipment, including calculators, computers and spreadsheets (extensive knowledge of Excel). Excellent interpersonal skills in order to interact and cooperate with co-workers and the general public.
Work Situations/Demands/Efforts: Work requires organizing; prioritizing; accuracy; attention to detail; working alone and as part of a group; flexibility in order to perform and coordinate a variety of duties; performing routine, repetitive duties; dealing with frequent deadlines; working in a sometimes stressful environment; occasional out-of-town travel to attend educational seminars and training sessions.
Working Conditions: Work is performed primarily in a shared office environment. Must be available to work Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Physical Requirements: Office duties are primarily sedentary; duties require prolonged sitting; occasional light lifting, carrying and/or moving objects weighing up to 20 lbs.
