The Assistant Vice President, Alumni and Constituent Engagement (AVP) in the Office of Institutional Advancement leads the strategic development and implementation of new and existing alumni, student, and constituent engagement programs, events and services designed to foster a lifelong connection with Jefferson. The AVP oversees the development and implementation of volunteer programs and services designed to engage and cultivate a national and international network of alumni volunteers. The AVP manages collaborative efforts partnering with the Jefferson colleges and various university and clinical departments to develop alumni programs, events, volunteer activities and services that promote alumni leadership and advocacy, and support the programming, fundraising, outreach and engagement goals of each individual college and Jefferson overall. The AVP will evaluate current engagement strategies and design and implement changes as needed to maximize engagement level and reach, integrating strategy for various constituent groups from across the Jefferson enterprise as needed, such as retirees and residency program alumni. Job Description
- Lead a comprehensive Alumni and Constituent Engagement function that effectively fosters a lifelong connection between Jefferson and its alumni, students, and other constituent groups. Lead strategy to create connections with these groups through events, volunteer opportunities, programs, and personalized individual outreach including travel.
- Oversee collaboration with Jefferson colleges and various university and clinical departments to develop alumni and constituent engagement opportunities to include programs, events, and volunteer activities and services.
- Manage and oversee overall program conceptualization and planning, budget development and administration, and execution of all logistical requirements and marketing initiatives for new and existing programs.
- Oversee the strategic development and execution of the a successful portfolio of alumni and student events, programs and services that strengthen the alumni-to-Jefferson, alumni-to-alumni, and alumni-to-student networks.
- Manage collaborative partnerships with the colleges, university and clinical departments, alumni volunteer leaders, and Institutional Advancement major gift officers to identify and
- support the programming, fundraising, outreach and engagement goals of each individual college, and university and clinical department, or other relevant group as well as the overall Jefferson enterprise.
- Cultivate and manage new partnerships as needed to maximize campus representation and inclusion.
- Responsible for ensuring the successful planning and execution of collaborative alumni and constituent engagement events and programs.
- Lead the development of annual programming and volunteer services plans, including the effective deployment of staff and budget resources, to align with Alumni and Constituent Engagement, Institutional Advancement, and enterprise objectives.
- Develop and execute alumni volunteer services offerings that maximize the quality and quantity of volunteer related opportunities for alumni. Introduce and manage the implementation of new and expanded programming to provide relevant volunteer activities and services; manage execution of all logistical programming requirements and marketing initiatives.
- Manage strategies for the cultivation of a national and international network of alumni volunteers; identification and recruitment of new volunteers; and placement of volunteers in appropriate opportunities.
- Introduce and manage the implementation of new and expanded programming to serve additional cross-enterprise alumni or constituent groups such as residency alumni, retirees, or other groups as needs arise.
- Partner with major gift teams to identify constituents with philanthropic capacity and interest and participate in qualification activities if needed; serve as a key partner in building the major and annual giving pipelines.
- Collaborate closely with gift officers to develop and execute personalized engagement plans for alumni donors.
- Participate in related enterprise and Institutional Advancement committees and projects as assigned.
- Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with Jefferson’s core values.
- Must be able to effectively manage financial and staff resources to execute programming of maximum value to building an effective engagement program.
- Responsible for staffing and administrative management of the alumni suite in the Pinizzotto-Ammon Alumni Center in Center City as well as maintaining a presence to serve alumni visitors on the East Falls campus as needed.
- 8 years of experience in alumni or constituent program management, program development, event management, and/or volunteer management preferably at a university or a comparably complex institution.
- A successful record of supervisory experience is required.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage several projects simultaneously required.
- Ability to work collaboratively with various constituent groups, volunteers, and campus partners required.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills required.
- Excellent administrative skills required.
- Strong communication and presentation skills required.

- This position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule; however, this position is based in Center City, Philadelphia and the incumbent must be able and willing to work onsite at Jefferson’s campuses and other locations in the region when needed.
