What your job will be like:
Do you have a passion for solving technical challenges in pursuit of groundbreaking science? At Jefferson Lab, our Engineering Division provides technical services to the entire lab to support ongoing accelerator operations and other lab initiatives. We are seeking a skilled, self-motivated individual to join our Mechanical Engineering Group as a Document Control Administrator. In this position, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's documents by organizing, tracking, storing, and distributing them, ensuring accuracy, and accessibility to relevant personnel through a document control system, often utilizing electronic platforms; they typically review, update, and archive documents while monitoring version control and enforcing document lifecycle policies across the division. Effective customer service provided to a wide range of staff and visitors is required. The Document Control Administrator will also manage the plotter room which will involve printing drawings, plotting posters, and maintaining equipment.
In this role, you will:
Document Management : Manage the electronic document databases administered by the Document Control Group
Document Processing : Conduct QC/QA on engineering documentation to ensure compliance in accordance to the standards set forth by the Engineering Departments. Identify and communicate document discrepancies.
Customer Service : Work with customers to determine the best and most effective methods that meet daily and long-term demands.
Document Repository Management : Assist users in using the Document Repository and signatory programs and provide troubleshooting.
Printing : Monitor and maintain printers, plotters, and supplies at several locations around the site. Print and mount large format posters.
Documentation Support : Assist in writing and editing engineering documentation that supports the lab's Conduct of Engineering Manual. This includes policies, procedures, training materials, and specifications/requirements.
Quality Assurance : Archive and QC electronic documents such as CAD drawings, written procedures, scanned data, forms, inspection results, etc. Verify completeness and accuracy of data and resolve discrepancies with document originators.
Qualifications We Require
High School Diploma
5 years of relevant experience. Education above the minimum may be substituted for experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Computer Skills using word processors, spreadsheets, and database entries
Able to perform rudimentary troubleshooting and diagnosis of printers and plotters
Able to manage and develop the requirements and tools for future technical data management systems
