In This Role You Will
- Plan all work in ePAS and coordinate the team to ensure Target Group work is performed in a safe manner, compliant with JLab policies
- Work from drawings, written or verbal instructions, to fabricate or procure items at the component and subassembly level
- Lead a small team of technicians and other JLab and User personnel to assemble components into subassemblies, and subassemblies into the final target assembly
- Coordinate with EH&S personnel and hall work coordinators to transport, install, and remove target equipment to/from the experimental halls.
- Manage and schedule both out-sourced and in-house machined components to streamline assembly of critical target assemblies. This includes estimating manufacturing timelines and identifying bottlenecks in part production/procurement that will impact existing target schedules
- Perform and document tests of components, subassemblies, and full target assemblies. Report results to system owner and advise on corrective actions as necessary
- Maintain tools, supplies and spare parts sufficient to ensure the group can fulfill its mission
- Perform daily functions; e.g. email, timesheets, purchase requisitions, web-based training etc
- Advise and provide technical support for staff, users, and students conducting research with the Target Group or in the four experimental halls at Jefferson Lab
- Document work and tasks using ePAS and Target Group electronic Logbooks
- Maintain Welding Certs and other designated qualifications through training and course work
Experience & Experience:
- High School Diploma
- 9 or more years Fabrication of complex assemblies via welding, brazing, soldering
- Additional education may be substituted for work experience
- 5 or more years Technical Vacuum and Cryogenic
- 3 or more years Industrial Machine Work, e.g. Metal Lathes, Milling Machines, including CNC
- Ability to work effectively, as an individual, directing others, and as part of a team
- Ability to communicate clearly with others and explain work to other team members via verbal and written explanations, drawings, memos
- Ability to read and comprehend 2D mechanical drawings and process and instrumentation drawings (P&ID)
- A working knowledge of Pressure Systems, Welding, practices and high vacuum system
- Demonstrated proficiency with basic hand and power tools such as drills, saws, grinders, sanders
- Metal working with standard shop tools (mills, lathes, presses
- Knowledge of best practices pertaining to Cryogenics and Pipefitting
- Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing (CAD/CAM)
- Must meet AWS Certified Welding, Crane Operations, Master Rigger and Vacuum Systems upon hire
