Description

Summary: Under minimal supervision, operates motorcoaches while complying with company policies, safety and DOT regulations.  Provides excellent customer service to passengers and others doing business with Jefferson Lines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Safe, responsible and timely operation of motor coach
• Proper and timely completion of required paperwork (DOT and company.)
• Courteous and thoughtful treatment of passengers and other individuals sharing the roadway.
• Professional conduct at all times while on duty or while in uniform.
• Safely and properly load and unload luggage up to 50 pounds per unit and push/pull luggage carts of up to 100 pounds per unit.
• Make, or assist in making, minimal repairs to motorcoach as necessary
• Fuel buses.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Must be D.O.T. qualified and possess a valid Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL) of Class B or higher, with passenger and air brake endorsements.  Must have 18 months of CDL experience.

Skills/Abilities:

• Be able to read and speak in the English language sufficiently to prepare reports and records, read maps and signs, and converse with the general public.
• Have and practice the required skills to safely operate a motorcoach and handle passengers, baggage and package express.
• Have knowledge of and comply with all Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations.
• Ability to maintain safe driving record.
• Ability to operate a motorcoach in all types of weather conditions.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or verbal form. 
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where limited standardization exists.

Physical Demands:

• Required to sit for long periods of time and use hands to finger, handle, or grasp objects and controls, and reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to bend, stoop, kneel, or crouch.

•  Required to stand, walk, climb or balance, talk or hear.

• Required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  Work Environment:

• Regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles (emissions).
• Regularly exposed to outdoor weather (heat and cold) conditions.
• The noise level in the work environment is occasionally very loud.
