B Mechanic
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform most standard and intermediate mechanical repairs to buses.
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections (PMI), as qualified, within the industry time guidelines.
- Start disabled vehicles.
- Repair restroom valves as required.
- Remove or install seats, tables, and bunk units.
- Perform tire duties such as remove and install.
- Repair interior systems, such as gauges, baggage doors, seating systems and other functional and cosmetic tasks.
- Fuel buses.
- Use gauges, drills or grinders or other specialized diesel mechanic tools and equipment.
- Change and/or repair lighting systems.
Additional Responsibilities:
- May perform limited bodywork and repaint vehicles after an accident or breakdown.
- May test drive repaired motor coaches to ensure they are operating correctly.
- May be required to travel to the site of a broken-down motor coach for repairs.
Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and written work orders.
- Ability to add and subtract in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or verbal form.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where limited standardization exists.
Physical Demands:
- Frequently required to stand long periods of time and use hands to finger, handle, or grasp objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
- Frequently required to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally required to walk, climb or balance, talk or hear.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma (equivalent), 1 years related experience.
