What are the responsibilities and job description for the Office Professional - Middle School - Category II position at JEFFERSON MIDDLE SCHOOL?

JOB SUMMARY:  This person performs office support and budgetary functions for the middle school. 

 

REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Administrative Assistant

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full time, Monday through Friday, 225 days per year; Breaks; Monday – Thursday 10 hours per day.

 

EVALUATION: Yearly first two years, then every three years following satisfactory evaluation.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Education:
    • Required: Must be a high school graduate or have a G.E.D. equivalent
  • Preferred: Technical training up to an associate degree
  • Financial/Budgetary experience required
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position
  • Excellent organizational skills; high attention to detail; strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
  • Safeguard all district data
  • Must be efficient with computers, various software applications, and related technologies. Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications is required
  • The ability to complete multiple tasks at the same time is a must
  • Ability to function in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment
  • Possess sound, independent judgment, including handling of confidential matters

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Daily substitute paraprofessional calling/assigning
  • Maintain student records
  • Generate various communications to students, parents, and other stakeholders in multiple formats (newsletter, announcements, flyers, etc.)
  • Building budgeting, purchasing, deposits, and reporting
  • Assist with building payroll as needed
  • Assist with other building events as needed
  • Fine motor skills and ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted, to lift and move equipment and supplies
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position with reasonable accommodations
  • Able to ride in a vehicle, as necessary (e.g., training on occasion)
  • Able to work indoors during all seasons/weather/temperatures as permitted

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and prioritize work effectively
  • Communicate effectively via district-assigned email on a daily basis as determined by the supervisor
  • Accurately complete electronic time sheets and absence reporting via the timekeeping system, per assigned deadlines
  • Regular and reliable attendance
  • Consistent and reliable performance of job responsibilities
  • Perform other job responsibilities deemed appropriate by the supervisor/building administrator and/or Superintendent
