Position Description:
The PEIP Teacher reports to the Director of PreK in the Student Support Unit. They deliver education services to identified preschoolers, ages 3-5 years, with exceptionalities in a center-based community or home setting.

Scope of Responsibility:
- Coordinate and conduct both initial and review IEPs.
- Work with Community early education providers who have identified students with special needs in their programs.
- Provide direct and consultative educational services to identified exceptional preschoolers in a center-based community or home setting.
- Provide training to parents of identified preschoolers with special needs.
- Coordinate related services with educational services to students in the community/home program.
- Provide in-service training to community early education providers.
- Assist in the transition process of students entering into the preschool program and exiting preschoolers into school-aged program.
- Work with special education preschool staff on identified program needs.
- Lift, move, or position preschoolers on caseload as needed on their IEP.
- Perform all job responsibilities, as applicable, listed under the special education teacher job description.
- Perform other job-related duties assigned by the Director of Early Childhood.
Skills and Qualifications:

- Certified in Preschool Special Education.
- Three (3) years as a preschool Special Education Teacher.
- Ability to organize and motivate people.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
- Integrity, initiative, and good moral character.
- Ability to relate to students, staff, administration, parents, and community.
- Possess desirable attributes of personality, enthusiasm, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven track record of working with diverse individuals at all levels to drive decision-making and results.
- Ability to be visionary and strategic is essential.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience working in the Jefferson Parish School System.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and cooperatively with other professionals, children and their parents.
- Fluent in Spanish.
Physical Involvement:
- Sitting is required most of each work day.
- Must be able to operate office equipment.
- Standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting up to 10 pounds is sometimes required.
- Ability to provide own transportation to schools, work locations, and meeting sites.
- Mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work locations, including locations not on the ground floor.
