Position Description:
The Bilingual Intake/Registration Clerk assures the smooth operation of the ESL Testing Center, and assists with administrative duties so that the Chief Academic Officer may devote maximum attention to central issues of the Teaching and Learning Unit. The Bilingual Intake/Registration Clerk shall act as a representative of the Executive Director of English Language Equity and Acquisition and has the ability to communicate intelligently with all stakeholders regarding ESL programs and registration policies.

Executive Director of English Language Equity and Acquisition
Scope of Responsibility:
- Interprets for parents and students when needed.
- Tests students for English proficiency in the English Language Testing Centers; assists in compiling documentation for registration.
- Maintains accurate records of student PHLOTE forms, students tested, personnel used to assist with testing, comments and pertinent information regarding all English proficiency assessments administered.
- Prioritizes, screens, and distributes all telephone calls and incoming mail for the ESL Testing Center.
- Manages clerical activities to ensure a routine flow of work, correspondence, requests for information, and coordination with all departments and units.
- Assists students in communicating with school personnel including school office staff, teachers, principals, guidance counselors and others.
- Maintains security of electronic and print records with regard to confidentiality of student information and passwords that are issued for access to databases;
- Utilizes database management programs designed by the JPS to enter and maintain student federal program records.
- Answers inquiries from the general public, administrators, and other personnel for ESL Testing Centers.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of English Language Equity and Acquisition.

- High School diploma or equivalency required.
- Ability to communicate in English and either Spanish, Vietnamese or Arabic both orally and in writing.
- Ability to give and receive information via e-mail and Internet.
- Produces letters, memos, charts, and tables.
- Uses Power Point, EXCEL, web browser, and other technologies.
- Ability to pass the bilingual paraprofessional district test.

Physical Involvement:
Sitting is required most of each work day. Must be able to operate office equipment. Standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting up to 30 pounds is sometimes required. Ability to provide own transportation to schools, work locations, and meeting sites. Mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work locations, including locations not on the ground floor.
