EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRONIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND FOR FUTURE VACANCIES AS THEY OCCUR.The purpose of this position is to architect, implement, and maintain application software systems for the Parish’s enterprise GIS system through a centralized IT Department. Acts as primary resource for various GIS-related tools and services; gathers user requirements; implements and develops applications; tests and debugs; creates training documentation for users; deploys applications; maintains data; interacts with users; and provides processes and applications to users. Position involves highly responsible technical work in creating, implementing, and maintaining programs in an Oracle/GIS environment. Develops, implements, and manages integrated GIS solutions software to include ESRI and AutoCAD applications to include maintenance of enterprise GIS databases and web-mapping services in support of desktop and mobile solutions. Coordinates the implementation of short and long-term projects for the production and maintenance of all enterprise geospatial application development-related projects, including working with GIS staff and Parish departments to understand their automation needs, preparing technical specifications, and recommending options to stakeholders. Position requires driving of a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference.Possession of at least an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with considerable coursework in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electronics, Programming, or a closely related field; PLUS, three (3) years of verifiable, paid work experience (within the last 7 years) in complex programming development utilizing at least two (2) of the following languages: RPG, .NET, Java, Android, or SQL.
