EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT WEST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF BUILDING PERMITS AND FOUR (4) CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCIES, THREE (3) IN THE DEPARTMENT ONF BUILDING PERMITS AND ONE (1) IN THE DEPARTMENT OF ENGINEERING.
This employment list will also be used for future EAST AND WEST Jefferson vacancies in various Department as they occur.
Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to inspect electrical construction/installation for compliance with applicable standards and codes. Employees in this classification perform expert technical inspection and related reporting work. Inspects electrical construction in residential, commercial and other installations for compliance with electrical codes and trade standards. Employees approve electrical work, prepare project status reports, and research and interpret electrial codes for enforcement, contractors, and the general public. Performs related work as required. Drives to and from various locations throughout Jefferson Parish to perform job task. Position requires driving of a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference.
Employees will be required to obtain certification by the International Code Council (ICC) as a Residential Electrical Inspector or Commercial Electrical Inspector prior to the completion of their probationary period.
Related education, experience, and/or professional certification(s) above and beyond the minimum qualifications will be required for consideration of an entrance salary above the minimum rate.(ENTRANCE AND PROMOTIONAL)

Applicants must meet one (1) of the following:
- Possession of or eligibility to obtain (through previously successful regulatory examination) a current Class A / Master Electrical license issued by Jefferson Parish.
- Possession of a current Electrical Work Statewide license issued by the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors (LSLBC).
- Possession of or eligibility to obtain (through successful completion of regulatory examination) a current Class C Electrical license issued by Jefferson Parish; PLUS, at least three (3) years of full-time, paid, verifiable journeyman-level electrical work experience.
- At least seven (7) years of full-time, paid, verifiable journeyman-level electrical work experience under a licensed Electrician possessing a Class A / Master Electrical license issued by Jefferson Parish or Electrical Work Statewide license issued by the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors (LSLBC).
PREFERRED: Current certification by the International Code Council (ICC) as a Residential Electrical Inspector and/or Commercial Electrical Inspector.

The examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, an oral panel interview or any combination thereof. Acceptable applicants will be notified of the time, date, and place of any assembled testing. Applicants must supply complete and accurate information concerning their training and experience including a detailed description of their work experience, the names and addresses of all previous employers and the dates of employment. The information is subject to verification and the Personnel Department reserves the right to determine the quality and quantity of education and experience claimed for credit.
