Substitution: An accredited Master’s degree in Public Health, Emergency Management, or closely related field may substitute for the required experience.
Preferred: Active CPR certification and completion of 100, 200, 700, and 800 training courses through FEMA’s Emergency Management Institute are preferred.

The purpose of this position is to perform responsible administrative work assisting the Assistant Director/Emergency Management Coordinator III in the daily operations of the Emergency Management Department. This position works closely with Parish, State and Federal Agencies to develop and update plans for responding to emergencies. Employee coordinates emergency management and operational activities with those of other divisions and outside agencies and organizations. Employee in this position is responsible for compiling all necessary resource lists and directories needed for emergency operations. Assist in preparation of standard operating procedures and the overall Jefferson Parish emergency operations plan as it relates to public health. Employee prepares grant budget and assist in the parish budget; prepares monthly expenditure reports for grant funding; works with Department of Health and Human Services and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention grant funding and provide reports of funding. Responsible for operational readiness of the operations and control rooms in the emergency operations center (EOC) as it relates to ESF 6 and 8. Develops and implements all public health and mass care plans, training, exercises and after action reports; maintain list of medically vulnerable residents to be used in response activities during an emergency. This position is an essential, emergency duty status worker and may not be relieved of duty when the Parish President or their designee recommends a voluntary or mandatory evacuation of Jefferson Parish. Position requires driving of a Parish vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record will be given preference.

The examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, an oral panel interview or any combination thereof.
