What are the responsibilities and job description for the ENGINEER INTERN(4050) position at Jefferson Parish?
EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF SEWERAGE.
This employment list will also be used for future EAST AND WEST Jefferson vacancies in various Departments as they occur.For the current vacancy, employee in this position will work under the supervision of the Assistant Director of the Department of Sewerage. The job duties include the performance of professional engineering work of considerable technical difficulty and variety; including the planning, development, and direction of all conventional aspects of engineering projects. Areas of assignment include, but are not necessarily limited to, drainage, sewerage, water, streets, and general engineering. Performs tasks related to the operation and maintenance of the Department of Sewerage. Assists in planning for improvements and maintenance to the wastewater system through the development of design plans, review of system changes, and the analysis of data for recommended improvements. Designs and/or reviews engineering construction drawings and specifications on wastewater collection system projects involving improvements to the existing system and new development proposals. Will be responsible for work in hydraulic modeling, pump selection, GIS, AMMS (computerized maintenance management system), work order systems, and computerized databases (MS Access). This position is an essential, emergency duty status worker and may not be relieved of duty when the Parish President or their designee recommends a voluntary or mandatory evacuation of Jefferson Parish. Position requires driving of a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference.Current registration as an Engineer Intern with the Louisiana State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. If Engineer Intern registration is in another state, must obtain Louisiana Registration within six months of employment.
Related education, experience, and/or professional certification(s) above and beyond the minimum qualifications will be required for consideration of an entrance salary above the minimum rate.(ENTRANCE AND PROMOTIONAL)
