EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF ENGINEERING AND FOR FUTURE VACANCIES AS THEY OCCUR.Under administrative direction, this position performs advanced level professional engineering and supervisory/managerial work. The work involves the construction of complex engineering projects with unique and/or controversial problems, requiring the application of engineering principles using advanced techniques and modifications. Manages major public works projects from inception to completion. Prepares and reviews technical plans and specifications, permit applications, engineering reports, progress reports, inspection reports and construction, testing, and engineering invoices. Exercises considerable independence in coordinating, planning, and implementing the work process. Functions as a staff specialist serving as a technical expert in the area of road and bridge construction. This position is also an essential, emergency duty status worker and may not be relieved of duty when the Parish President or their designee recommends a voluntary or mandatory evacuation of Jefferson Parish. Position requires driving of a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference.
NOTE: If P.E. registration is from another state, must obtain Louisiana registration before end of the probationary period.Current registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) with the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board (LAPELS); plus, nine (9) years of professional engineering experience.
NOTE: Professional engineering experience indicates engineering work performed with a P.E. license.(ENTRANCE AND PROMOTIONAL)
