EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL TWO (2) CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCIES IN THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT AND FUTURE VACANCIES AS THEY OCCUR.The purpose of this position is to provide Human Resource Management leadership on a daily basis to Departmental Appointing Authorities and their subordinate supervisors in the management of employees at work. Work is accomplished in accordance with Parish Rules, Parish Policy, and Local, State, and Federal Labor and Civil Rights laws. Assists the Appointing Authorities and supervisors in the preparation and effectuating of employee disciplinary actions, attends fact-finding conferences and pre-disciplinary hearings to represent the interests of the Appointing Authorities. Counsels with supervisors on specific employee problems, and recommends and assists in the implementation of appropriate corrective actions. Investigates employee problems; hears employee complaints and grievances. Performs related works as required. Position requires driving of a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference.Meets ONE of the following three options:
I. Possession of an accredited Master’s degree*; plus, one (1) year of paid work experience performing human resource management duties, including primary responsibility for at least one of the following functions: job analysis, organization planning, training/development, employee case management, employee discipline, or grievance investigation.
II. Possession of an accredited Bachelor’s degree*; plus, at least three (3) years of paid work experience, as described in Option I above.
III. Possession of an active certification given by SHRM or HRCI; plus, at least six (6) years of paid work experience, as described in Option I above.
*A major of study in Human Resource Management, Business, Public Administration, or related is preferred.
Original proof of education will be required.
Related education, experience, and/or professional certification(s) above and beyond the minimum qualifications will be required for consideration of an entrance salary above the minimum rate.
The examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, an oral panel interview or any combination thereof. Acceptable applicants will be notified of the time, date, and place of any assembled testing. Applicants must supply complete and accurate information concerning their training and experience including a detailed description of their work experience, the names and addresses of all previous employers and the dates of employment. The information is subject to verification and the Personnel Department reserves the right to determine the quality and quantity of education and experience claimed for credit.
