EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL THREE (3) CURRENT WEST JEFFERSON VACANCIES IN THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS & RECREATION.
This employment list will also be used for future EAST AND WEST Jefferson vacancies in this Departments as they occur.Under general direction, the purpose of this position is to plan, develop, promote, organize, coordinate, schedule and evaluate assigned special program(s). Employees in this classification perform administrative and supervisory work. Employee is responsible for program administration, as well as, ensuring activities and setup, meet the needs and goals of the program. Maintains and reports program staff and/or unclassified employees time/attendance or payroll information for processing. Develops and administers budget for respective program(s). Promotes, organizes, directs, schedules and evaluates assigned special program ensuring all activities meet the goals of the program. Ensures program(s) meets the needs of the community and implements all guidelines, policies, and procedures for the program. Performs basic clerical and administrative functions, to include working on a computer, calculator, printer/scanner/fax, copier, laminator, answering phones, etc. Perform related work as required. Employee will work a flexible schedule which may occasionally include weekdays, weekends, nights and holidays. Position requires driving of a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference.Candidates must have the knowledge and ability to operate a personal computer, including the use of a word processing program (e.g., Microsoft Word); PLUS, meet one (1) of the following minimum qualification requirements:
1) Current employment with Jefferson Parish and permanent civil service status in the Department of Parks and Recreation, supplemented by at least one (1) year of verifiable and responsible work experience in organizing and coordinating various recreational activities.
NOTE: Any conviction listed in the Louisiana Child Protection Act (Louisiana R.S. 15:587.1) is considered disqualifying, unless written proof of pardon is submitted in time for consideration with the application.
Related education, experience, and/or professional certification(s) above and beyond the minimum qualifications will be required for consideration of an entrance salary above the minimum rate.(ENTRANCE AND PROMOTIONAL)
The examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, an oral panel interview or any combination thereof. Acceptable applicants will be notified of the time, date, and place of any assembled testing. Applicants must supply complete and accurate information concerning their training and experience including a detailed description of their work experience, the names and addresses of all previous employers and the dates of employment. The information is subject to verification and the Personnel Department reserves the right to determine the quality and quantity of education and experience claimed for credit.
