EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO SUPPLEMENT THE EXISTING EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCIES IN THE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT AND FUTURE EAST JEFFERSON VACANCIES AS THEY OCCUR.TRAFFIC SECTION OF THE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT IS ONLY LOCATED ON THE EAST BANK. ANYONE APPLYING FOR WEST JEFFERSON ONLY WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR THESE VACANCIES.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Under direct supervision, the purpose of this position is to install, replace, remove and maintain traffic control signs in Jefferson Parish. Employee participates in the fabrication, installation, maintenance, repair, and replace Parish signs and markings including those required for Parish streets, parking lots, and other related infrastructure. Cleans work-sites, assembles, and disassembles barricades, warning devices, and signs to ensure a safe work environment. Open and closes streets as required for construction purposes and special events. Operates truck during the course of performing the installation of signs and striping within the Parish. Performs related duties as required. This position is an essential, emergency duty status worker and may not be relieved of duty when the Parish President or her designee recommends a voluntary or mandatory evacuation of Jefferson Parish. Position also requires driving of a Parish vehicle necessitating a class D license, thus possession of a valid Class D Driver's license and acceptable driving record will be given preference.

(ENTRANCE AND PROMOTIONAL) Written Test ------------------------ Weighted 100% The written test is an assembled, multiple-choice test that assesses ability to perform the duties of the Sign Technician I position. The content targets entry-level knowledge, skills, and abilities, such as basic arithmetic, knowledge of tools used on the job and mechanical aptitude, ability to follow instructions, and knowledge of safety rules.
