EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF BUILDING PERMITS AND FUTURE VACANCIES AS THEY OCCUR.Under the general direction of the Director, the purpose of the position is to perform highly responsible administrative, managerial, and coordination work in the oversight of a large-scale on-going, administrative special project. Employee in this current position coordinates work/program performance between permitting system management and multiple Parish departments. Reviews problems and issues presented by users of the system; develops solutions accordingly and prioritizes workload. This position notifies users on implementation and maintenance of current permitting and licensing system; plans review and inspections system training; adds and deletes user permissions; conducts other parish departmental training; and notifies users of the progression of future applicable parish procedural requirements. Develops current permitting and licensing training manual for new employees within the assigned department as well as other departments utilizing current permitting and licensing system. Performs related work as required. Position requires driving of a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference.Meets ONE of the following options:

The examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, an oral panel interview or any combination thereof. Acceptable applicants will be notified of the time, date, and place of any assembled testing. Applicants must supply complete and accurate information concerning their training and experience including a detailed description of their work experience, the names and addresses of all previous employers and the dates of employment. The information is subject to verification and the Personnel Department reserves the right to determine the quality and quantity of education and experience claimed for credit.

I. Current employment and permanent civil service status at or above the level of Administrative Assistant with Jefferson Parish and at least one (1) year of experience at that level, managing documentation in the Parish’s building permits software system.
OR
II. Possession of a high school diploma (or equivalent) and advanced (approx. four years), paid experience working in an administrative capacity in a government/municipal context, to include experience managing documentation within a government permitting/licensing software system.
OR
III. Possession of an accredited Associate’s degree* and substantial (approx. two years), paid experience working in an administrative capacity in a government/municipal context, to include experience managing documentation within a government permitting/licensing software system.
