What are the responsibilities and job description for the TRUCK DRIVER I (2361) position at Jefferson Parish?
EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO SUPPLEMENT THE EXISTING LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF LIBRARY.
This employment list will also be used for future EAST AND WEST Jefferson vacancies in various Departments as they occur.Truck Driver I's are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a pick-up truck, crew truck, 1 1/2 to 3 ton stake bodies, ordinary single axle dumps (4 to 6 yds.) or 3 axle straight truck. Drives vehicle to pick up and deliver various types of cargo wet or dry. Loads and unloads the vehicle and performs related duties as required. This position is an essential, emergency duty status worker and may not be relieved of duty when the Parish President or his designee recommends a voluntary or mandatory evacuation of Jefferson Parish. Position requires driving of a Parish vehicle necessitating at least a Class D license, thus possession of a valid Class D Driver's License and acceptable driving record will be given preference.
NOTE: Some positions may be required to operate a vehicle which requires a Class B CDL; in that case selective certification of eligibles with a Louisiana Class "B" Commercial Driver's License would be used in filling those vacancies.
For the current vacancy in the Library Department, the employee serves as the main shipment driver for Grand Isle, Lafitte, Avondale and Live Oak Libraries. Delivers shipment to the Grand Isle branch bi-weekly. Delivers shipment to the Lafitte, Avondale and Live Oak twice per week. Also serves as the backup driver for all intra-library shipment, driving library-owned high cube box truck. This current position drives a high-cube box truck on a daily basis making deliveries of books and other library materials from library headquarters to and from east and west bank branches on a set schedule.Meets one of the following options:
I. Current Jefferson Parish employment and permanent civil service status.
