What are the responsibilities and job description for the WATER PURIFICATION SUPERINTENDENT I (2771) position at Jefferson Parish?
EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT WEST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF WATER.
This employment list will also be used for future EAST AND WEST Jefferson vacancies in this Department as they occur.Position consists of responsible supervisory work involving the chemical treatment and filtration of large quantities of water intended for human and industrial consumption. An employee in this class supervises all operations of a large purification plant which includes the filtration and chemical treatment units. Duties include responsibilities for a safe and efficient operation and maintenance of all equipment and for the quality and quantity of water produced. Employee assigns tasks to operating and maintenance assistants, and keeps necessary clerical and production records. Employee supervises the operation, maintenance, and repair of all equipment used in the purification of water. Performs related duties as required. Employee drives to and from various locations throughout Jefferson Parish in order to perform job tasks. This position is an essential, emergency duty status worker and may not be relieved of duty when the Parish President or their designee recommends a voluntary or mandatory evacuation of Jefferson Parish. Position requires driving of a Parish vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record will be given preference. Must meet one of the following:
I. Current employment with Jefferson Parish and permanent civil service status as a Water Purification Operator; PLUS, at least two (2) years of experience in water purification plant operations AND possession of a Class IV Certificate in Water Treatment issued by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals.
PREFERRED: Operator Certification(s) in Water Production and/or Water Distribution issued by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals.
Related education, experience, and/or professional certification(s) above and beyond the minimum qualifications will be required for consideration of an entrance salary above the minimum rate. (ENTRANCE AND PROMOTIONAL)
