Job Summary:
Jefferson Pharmacy, a leader in providing high-quality durable medical equipment (DME) to our community, is seeking an experienced Medical Equipment Biller to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical billing, excellent attention to detail, and a passion for ensuring patients receive the care and equipment they need.
As a Medical Equipment Biller, you will be responsible for processing claims, verifying insurance, ensuring compliance with regulations, and managing billing inquiries related to DME.
Responsibilities:
- Submit and follow up on medical claims to insurance companies, Medicare, and Medicaid
- Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits for DME products
- Process billing for a variety of equipment, including oxygen systems, mobility aids, CPAP devices, and other home medical supplies
- Review and ensure accurate coding (HCPCS, ICD-10) and documentation for claims
- Work with patients and insurance representatives to resolve billing questions and discrepancies
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on unpaid claims in a timely manner
- Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations, including HIPAA, Medicare, insurance policies, and accreditation requirements
- Collaborate with customer service and delivery teams to ensure seamless patient service
Requirements:
- Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in medical billing, preferably in a DME or healthcare setting
- Strong knowledge of billing processes for Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurances
- Familiarity with DME-specific codes (HCPCS, ICD-10) and billing requirements is highly desirable
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or certification in medical billing is a plus
