What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Maintenance Coordinator position at Jefferson Southern Corporation?
Oversee all maintenance and repair of all plant facilities: including general building structure, grounds, basic plumbing, air system, lighting, roofing, and HVAC systems. Assist responsible departments in property damage investigations. Develop and maintain spare parts inventory to minimize repair time. Work with Management team to schedule plant downtime for maintenance.

- Follow all JSC rules and procedures.
- Enforce company Safety rules and procedures throughout the department and follow set example.
- Create 5s activities and enforce them throughout the department.
- Identify critical spare parts and order them as needed.
- Ensure PM system is on schedule and effective.
- Prepare and ensure that all items necessary for PM and Projects are readily available.
- Communicate existing and new equipment failures with engineering and management.
- Lead root cause analysis and 5P investigations.
- Perform cost reduction activities to reduce overall operating costs.
- Help with training and coaching with any maintenance department member.
- Ensure training is being completed, documented, tracked, and refreshed for all direct reports.
- Maintain skill matrix and career path development plan for each direct report including self.
- Continue leadership and management training through JSC’s developmental resources.
- Monitors daily overtime that is needed.
- Develop and generate reports pertaining to results and activities within the area of responsibility.
- Maintain TPM schedule to ensure uptime of machinery. (5S)
- Plan and schedule project timelines, orders parts.
- Constant monitoring of processes for improvement activity.
- Encourage associate’s continuous improvement ideas.
- Create work instructions or update as needed. Also ensure all WI’s are signed off by techs.
- Monitors all documents and forms for the correct revision.
- Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly targets are met in coordination with the departments KPIs.
- Oversee landscaping contracts.
- Oversee recycling of oils, bulbs, and other hazardous waste.
- Maintain adequate lighting throughout the plant and ensure lighting needs are communicated to management team.
- Maintain all roll up doors in the facility.
- Ensure all HVAC systems PMs are maintained and that the plant maintains more than 80% HVAC systems are in operation.
- Monitor weld water systems and plant air systems.
- Ensure the company stays in compliance with all Environmental and ISO 14001 regulations.
- Maintain operations of shipping dock doors and latches.
- Coordinate with Safety Manager all other needs pertaining to fire, sprinkler, and other security systems.
- Other duties as required by management.
- Associates Degree (AS) from an accredited Technical School; or one to two years of related technical experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; Internal candidates should have at least 1 year of experience in a previous leadership role within the company and has proven abilities to lead and coordinate.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook
- Prior experience utilizing ERP software. Experience utilizing PLEX ERP system highly preferred
- Ability to make sound timely decisions through problem solving and investigation
- General building maintenance and facility systems knowledge
- HVAC experience with Carrier and Trane systems is preferred
- Electrical knowledge for residential and industrial wiring of lighting, breakers, control panels
- Lean Manufacturing/JIT Environment experience
