Job Summary:
Under the general direction of the Deputy Executive Director, the Park Services Manager ensures Jekyll Island Authority buildings and public areas are always maintained with a high level of cleanliness and appearance. Responsibilities include leading the Park Services Department, supervising, organizing, and directing staff in staging, cleaning, sweeping, polishing, waxing, washing windows, cleaning bathrooms, etc. Ensuring and maintaining the security of assigned buildings and preparing Park Services staff for upcoming events and functions, including historic tours, marketing events & festivals.

Description:
- Provides excellent customer service (i.e., patrons, vendors, team members) including responding to inquiries and requests and resolving customer complaints as necessary in a prompt, effective, and courteous manner.
- Participates in hiring Park Service staff, schedules and leads the daily activities of the staff by assigning work duties, answering questions, resolving routine problems, and interpreting work assignments.
- Enforces JIA policies, rules, and regulations regarding park services staff attendance and/or performance; completes documentation including recognition, discipline, and performance reviews; attends in-service training and additional staff training as necessary.
- Collaborate with the assistant manager to develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintain quality standards, promote a safe and professional workplace, and exhibit hospitality while striving to exceed visitor expectations.
- Provide staff training and coaching, including appropriate SOPs, cleaning techniques, and proper use of resources and tools (chemicals, equipment, customer service, etc.).
- Reports equipment issues to fleet maintenance, completes and submits work orders for facility repairs, and communicates other issues as needed with Supervisor.
- Prepares and controls budget to ensure adequate funding and to prevent over-expenditure of funds.
- Works closely with other Departmental Directors and Superintendents regarding island activities, maintaining open and clear communication with all departments to ensure consistent service.
- Performs inspections of the overall cleanliness and upkeep of buildings, including Historic District, Island facilities, and Offices. Ensures restrooms are clean and sanitary to promote proper hygiene; replaces soap, toilet paper, paper towels, etc.
- Using proper procurement procedures and orders and maintaining adequate levels of cleaning supplies and equipment in storage centers & route vehicles, and the ability to monitor usage of supplies.
- Maintains appropriate confidentiality of any proprietary information seen or heard in the Administrative offices, including human resource information, payroll and accounting information, and information from the executive offices.
- Manages crew operations for facilities as needed for events; sets up tables, chairs, and other fixtures and removes them when the event is complete.
- Operates equipment safely and reports any unsafe work conditions or practices to Supervisor.
- Communicates using Our People App, JIA email and text messaging and approves payroll and time off requests in ADP.
- Identifies ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of park services.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of janitorial/housekeeping, commercial cleaning or related industry required.
- May consider any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills required with ability to coach employees.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Exert up to 80 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- More than 50% of the typical workday may be spent walking, lifting, climbing, balancing, stooping and/or crouching, kneeling, reaching, standing, pushing, pulling and repetitive motions of the wrists, hands or fingers.
- Between 25% and 50% of the typical workday may be spent climbing stairs and crawling.
- Sensory abilities required are feeling, grasping, and touching with more than 50% of the time spent talking and hearing.
- Visual abilities to perform tasks required are to operate motor vehicles and determine the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures.
- Required to perform work in outdoor environmental conditions. Exposure to extreme heat, high humidity, and occasionally adverse weather conditions as well occasional extreme cold.
- Will be exposed to hazards such as moving mechanical parts and moving vehicles.
- Will be subject to atmospheric conditions such as fumes, oils, odors, dusts, mists, or poor ventilation.
- Will be subject to close quarters, such as narrow aisles or passageways/hallways.
- Noise levels are considered normal to loud.
