The JELD-WEN Summer Internship Program empowers talented undergraduate students to gain real-world working experience and professional development in one of our business areas. This position is focused on the Plant Engineering business area. The internship program includes meaningful projects and challenging work assignments geared at developing professional competencies and skills in a chosen discipline. Additionally, throughout the summer internship, participants will have the opportunity for professional development, mentoring, and networking opportunities to help enhance future leadership.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
In the past, our interns have had the opportunity to:
- Support Engineering teams by assisting with various capital investment projects to drive productivity at our Grinnell, IA Opportunity to learn about equipment maintenance; asset management and technology integration
- Assisting with the design, analysis, and testing of mechanical components and systems.
- Support the preparation for the integration of new automation and robotics into production lines
- Collaboration with Continuous Improvement Engineers as applicable
- Assist with data flows, preparing technical reports and documentation
- Hands-on experience in mechanical engineering practices
- Mentorship from experienced professionals in the field
- Opportunities for professional development and networking
- Exposure to JELD-WEN's technical and business leadership
- A collaborative and inclusive work environment
SKILLS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE
- Currently enrolled rising juniors and senior students majoring in Mechanical Engineering
- Understanding of mechanical equipment
- Demonstrated work ethic and detail-orientation
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and project management skills
- Motivated to learn in a fast-paced environment and work to a high caliber while demonstrating attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Leadership experience and relationship-building skills
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Experience with CAD programs to create and modify designs
- Interest in or completed coursework in Automation and Robotics
- Relevant internship or previous work experience
