What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Superintendent position at JEM Development?
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Superintendent to join our team in Tucson, AZ. The Project Superintendent will be responsible for the comprehensive management of day-to-day field operations for assigned projects, from initial planning to final completion. This role requires a strong leader who can oversee daily scheduling, supervise on-site personnel and activities, and ensure adherence to safety regulations and overall project compliance.
**Duties & Responsibilities:**
* Thoroughly understand contract documents, schedules, staffing requirements, project estimates, and personnel coordination.
* Collaborate with Preconstruction Services during the estimate preparation phase.
* Establish, implement, manage, and enforce the Safety Program and Site-Specific Safety Plan in compliance with OSHA guidelines.
* Conduct inspections of ongoing work to verify compliance with specifications and contract documents.
* Oversee stormwater prevention and fugitive dust control measures.
* Maintain strong professional relationships with owners, architects, engineers, and inspectors.
* Prepare and distribute daily reports detailing crew sizes, manpower allocation, work performed, equipment utilization, weather conditions, construction progress, issues, delays, and directives.
* Demonstrate expertise in Critical Path Method and Lean Process Scheduling.
* Develop and implement recovery strategies to mitigate delays impacting the project’s critical path.
* Track and expedite the project log, ensuring weekly updates from staff.
* Ensure Project Engineers are prepared to update the project schedule and procurement activities.
* Maintain current sets of drawings on-site.
* Develop and implement innovative project techniques, methods, and systems to enhance quality, safety, productivity, and overall management.
* Effectively manage Trade Partners to facilitate project completion.
* Initiate comprehensive pre-planning activities.
* Conduct weekly Safety Meetings and Trade Partner Coordination Meetings.
* Establish and maintain processes for creating and tracking “work to complete” and “pre-punch” lists.
* Manage the completion of pre-punch lists and architect/owner punch lists.
* Assist with close-out procedures.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
**Education and Experience:**
* Required: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Project Engineering
* 3-5 years of experience in Construction, Project Management, or a related field.
**Knowledge and Skills:**
* Desired: Comprehensive knowledge of vertical and horizontal construction for rental and residential projects.
* Proficiency in field productivity and project management software.
* Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
* Ability to effectively influence, negotiate, and manage project schedules.
* Exceptional organizational and follow-up skills.
**Physical Requirements:**
* Moderate physical activity, including frequent standing, walking, reaching, bending, kneeling, stooping, crawling, and climbing.
* Prolonged periods of sitting may also be required.
* Ability to lift and/or move items as needed.
