Description

The Buyer works in cooperation with the Purchasing Manager to procure and control inventory of supplies, raw materials, and equipment necessary for the operation of the company. Also works to ensure incoming materials, components, and supplies are ordered and received to meet critical production schedules, effectively reviewing MRP requirements to reduce overall costs and increase inventory turns. Contributes to a positive working culture, builds strong relationships, and lives out the values of integrity, collaboration, and accountability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES And RESPONSIBILITIES

• Reviews and analyzes ERP/MRP and other related reports to procure raw materials from suppliers.
• Ensures purchase orders and change orders for assigned parts, materials, and supplies are input into the system and documented in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with established procedures.
• Ensures integrity of purchase orders by verifying all information provided on supplier acknowledgement, including part numbers, descriptions, pricing, and delivery dates
• Communicates with shop personnel, customer service, and production teams regarding status of orders in relation to sales order dates and/or scheduling requirements
• Expedites purchasing requests related to past due items, prototypes and other requests on an as needed basis.
• Assists in the procurement and expediting of special tooling on an as needed basis.
• Schedules and purchases MRO products.
• Coordinates and monitors Vendor Managed Inventory programs.
• Provides back-up in creating purchase orders for outside service suppliers and schedule courier shipments as needed.
• Demonstrates leadership and sound judgment in representing the purchasing department and JEM Technical internally and externally.
• Complies with all JEM policies and procedures, including ISO, OSHA, and AWAIR requirements.
• Supports JEM’s vision and mission and exemplifies JEM’s core values daily.
• Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

• One to three years of related experience in a purchasing role and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with raw material and tooling specifications and purchasing preferred.
• Knowledge of ERP system and various inventory control techniques, such as MRP, Kanban programs.
• Epicor preferred but not required.
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office.

Salary Description

$50,000 - $65,000
