What are the responsibilities and job description for the Jenison Innovation Academy Full-time Online Elementary Teacher 6th Grade position at Jenison Public Schools?
- State of Michigan teaching certification required (ZG) K-5 all subjects (K-8 all subjects in self-contained classroom)
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Commitment to educational excellence
- Curriculum knowledge consistent with elementary and middle school grade levels
- Successful teaching experience at the elementary and/or middle school level
- Strong instructional technology experience (preferably within an LMS)
- Report to JIA campus daily from 8:00am-3:00pm
- Participate in professional development for successful online and hybrid teaching & learning
- Instruct 6th grade courses online within Blackboard (including additional electives or 6-8 core courses as assigned)
- Customize digital content for students as needed
- Serve as a mentor teacher for JIA students in 6th grade
- Communicate weekly with students and parents, providing a supportive online teacher presence
- Supervise in-person middle school learning center (LC) and tutoring sessions throughout the week, also hosting (in-person) and virtual activities & academic advising
- Host live instructional sessions for each course assigned
- Monitor student academic progress and attendance/engagement data weekly
- Proctor grade-level, school-wide assessments
- Follow academic support plans for struggling students, working closely with the JIA Lead Teacher & Assistant Principal
- Attend Parent-teacher conferences
- Uphold all JIA Handbook expectations and policies
