JOB SUMMARY
The Training and Development Manager will assess, identify and monitor training needs in the organization and design, plan, and implement training programs, policies, and procedures to fulfill those needs. The position is responsible for maintaining a consistent culture regarding training, as well as providing innovative and effective processes and procedures to streamline the training experience. To be successful in this role, the person should have solid experience designing and organizing educational curriculum and driving initiatives to develop our employees’ skills in order to improve quality of work, productivity and retention. Hands on experience in the restoration industry provides much greater insight into how to train those employed at Jenkins.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES for the Training and Development Manager:
- Plan and design employee training programs for new and existing employees that align with company goals, industry standards, and employee skill sets
- Maintain communication with leaders and employees to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training; maintain knowledge of new methods and techniques for training, and training requirements applicable to the organization and/or industry
- Measure and evaluate the results of training initiatives; incorporate changes into curriculum and media as needed; Ensures that training materials and programs are current, accurate, and effective
- Craft and publish training plans to support career paths for the majority of positions, especially operations roles
- Recommend the use of new technologies, systems, and processes that positively impact both business and training metrics
- Manage quarterly and annual training budgets
- Maintain records of all training activities and materials
- Use performance reviews and skills gap analyses to identify organizational training needs
- Assist with instructional design, learning technology, graphic/media design, and other content development as necessary; including but not limited to hosting live training sessions, developing tools, processes, resources, courses, or web pages
- Conducts or facilitates required and recommended training sessions
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university and 3-5 years related management experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Field experience in the restoration or construction industry
- Solid understanding of traditional and modern training methods (including workshops, simulations, eLearning and coaching)
- Outstanding customer service mindset and execution; able to handle conflict resolution
- Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, including SharePoint and/or other Learning Management Systems (LMS)
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Outstanding time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
The Training and Development Manager must demonstrate the ability to write routine reports, correspondence, as well as speak effectively to customers and/or employees of organization in the English language.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
To perform this job successfully, the Training and Development Manager should have knowledge of industry related software be able to “touch type” and be familiar with software like Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.); able to communicate via cell phone and appropriate apps.
REASONING ABILITY:
The Training and Development Manager should possess the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. They should also have the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form in the English language.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the Training and Development Manager is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and smell.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment is a professional office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
