Position: Assistant Coordinator - Jenks Trojan Gymnastics

 

Reports to: Jenks Trojan Gymnastic Coordinator 

 

Supervises: None

 

Qualifications:       

  1. Bachelor’s degree or higher in physical education, elementary education, secondary education, personal training, gymnastics related field, or other associated area.
  2. Five years of gymnastics coaching experience, club supervision/coordination experience preferred. 
  3. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with all age levels, parents, school faculty, coaches, Advisory Council, supervisor(s), and the community. 
  4. Proven knowledge and success as a gymnastics coach.
  5. Exhibits strong core values, including respect, trust, and honesty. 
  6. Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
  7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Position Goal: Assist in the planning, organization, and coordination of the operations and administration of the District’s Gymnastics Club.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Demonstrates knowledge of gymnastics coaching skills, leadership and teamwork. 
  2. Assists with the clerical work related to the operations of the gymnastics program:
    • Maintain an up-to-date list of participants.
    • Preparing and submitting necessary program reports and travel requests. 
    • Maintaining necessary financial records for the program. 
    • Maintenance of student/enrollment information.
    • Preparation of all participant meet entries. 
    • Other tasks created by the program. 
  3. Assists in the selection, assignment, and evaluation of gymnastics coaching staff. 
  4. Accepts co-responsibility for day-to-day direction and hands-on guidance in all aspects of the club gymnastics program. 
  5. Serves as assistant supervisor, program liaison coordinator, coaches and other parties for the program.
  6. Assists in the preparation of the gymnastics annual calendar of practices and activities.
  7. Helps plan, schedule, and conduct a regular program of practice during and after the seasons including a summer program that promotes and enhances the District’s gymnastics goals.
  8. Assists with the development and oversight of feeder gymnastic lesson program(s).
  9. Attends athlete meets and practices as needed and approved by gymnastics coordinator and Community Education.
  10. Assists in the preparation/organization of all home and away gymnastics meets.
  11. Assists with scheduling transportation to gymnastic events.
  12. Assists in the scheduling of staff meetings, staff development, team-building opportunities and specialized training.
  13. Assists with the planning of parent, participant, and volunteer meetings, as needed.
  14. Assists coordinator with development of surveys and long and short-term goals to meet internal and external customer needs. 
  15. Assists in the development and implementation of written/documented gymnast assessments. 
  16. Provides oversight for the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times.
  17. Assists with selection, recommendation of purchase, inventory and maintenance of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate. 
  18. Assists in creating an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. 
  19. Fosters good school-community relations regarding the gymnastics program. 
  20. Assists in establishing and maintaining standards of student/athlete behavior. 
    • Models positive reinforcement with students and staff. 
    • Promotes school spirit by supporting all school activities and encourages student/athletes to support all school activities. 
  21. Maintains regular office hours and assists with the supervision of established program practice hours, as approved by the program coordinator and Community Education. 
  22. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Employment Terms:  Twelve (12) month classified hourly contract

Occasional Requirements: Reach with hands and arms overhead, above shoulder and horizontally; lift/move up to 40 pounds.

 

Visual Requirements:  Close, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.

 

Hearing/Speaking Requirements:  Adequate to exchange information.
