This position manages the activities in the Surgical Department to include planning, directing, organizing, coordinating, and evaluating the services provided by the surgery department. This position is a working manager position, and the person will need to be able to function as a staff OR RN. Responsible for monitoring and reporting on the Quality Assurance Program for the surgery department. Will need to work closely with Specialty Clinic and CNMC for coordinating procedures performed by the Specialists. Will need to work closely with all hospital departments to provide continuance of care for patients. This is a supervisory role and will be responsible for staff evaluations and supervision. Will be a part of the CNO management team. This is a full time 40 hour per week position. No weekends, holidays or on call. A $7,000 sign on bonus is eligible with this position.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program
- 2 years as an OR Staff Nurse
- Computer skills
- Telephone skills
Certificates, Licensure, Registrations
- Current Nebraska or Compact State RN license
- Current ACLS and BLS certification
SIGNIFICANT DUTIES
- Creates, directs, and implements the policies and procedures for surgery department. Assists in the development of the electronic system, involving necessary stakeholders and directs review and revision as needed.
- Responsible for the proper staffing of the surgery department.
- Ensures a high level of quality care and services for patients by coordinating and communicating operational procedures to physicians, clinical staff, and various departments.
- Monitors, evaluates, and modifies programs while adhering to organizational guidelines and standards.
- Consistently supports the mission, vision, values, and standards of behavior of the organization in daily leadership duties. Acts as a role model for patient-centered care.
- Demonstrates commitment to continuous improvement in the areas of quality, people, finance, community, and service.
- Responsible for the selection and evaluation of surgical services staff.
- Collaborates with hospital administration, nursing staff, medical providers, subject matter experts, and community partners to gain knowledge of healthcare issues and community needs.
- Disseminates information among stakeholders, reports to CNO, Medical Staff, management, Board of Directors, and community.

- Will work in conjunction with the Specialty Clinic to provide clinic services for Podiatry.

- Participates in an ongoing, systematic QI program for surgery department.
- Manages the performance review process to include developing job descriptions and standards as well as providing ongoing training, performance counseling and evaluation.
- Manages the operating and capital resources of the department and participates in the budget process.
- Demonstrates effective relationships with hospital staff, patients, public, outside agencies, and providers.
- Communicates effectively verbally and in writing.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Exercises professional judgment, courtesy, and professionalism in daily interactions with others.
- Establishes and maintain effective working relationships with health care team members and diverse patient populations.

Pay: $39.00 - $59.00 per hour
