About Us

Jennifer Gardner Design is a boutique residential interior design firm in Seattle, WA, specializing in kitchen, bath, and whole-home renovations. We pride ourselves on delivering highly personalized design experiences that reflect our clients’ unique goals, lifestyles, and visions. At JGD, collaboration, creativity, and a client-first mindset are at the heart of every project — and we’re looking for an Interior Design Associate who shares that passion.

Position Overview

We are seeking a talented Interior Design Associate with kitchen, bath, and/or home renovation experience to support our principal designer on a wide range of residential renovation projects. This role offers exposure to every phase of the design process — from concept development to construction completion — and involves direct collaboration with clients, vendors, and trade partners. This is a part-time role that offers room for professional growth and the potential to increase hours and responsibilities over time.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Documentation

  • Prepare 2D and 3D presentation drawings and 2D production drawings during design development and construction documentation phases.
  • Develop digital mood boards, conceptual presentations, and client-facing design packages.
  • Research, source, and specify materials, fixtures, furnishings, and finishes; prepare corresponding submittals and specification documents.
  • Oversee and document custom furniture, cabinetry, millwork, and window treatments from concept to fabrication, including review of shop drawings.

Project & Vendor Coordination

  • Lead procurement from ordering through installation, managing budgets and timelines, coordinating deliveries, and addressing issues to ensure project success.
  • Act as client and vendor liaison, ensuring smooth communication and alignment throughout the project.
  • Support renovation project management by coordinating trades during construction, maintaining updated project schedules, and assisting with site-related problem-solving.
  • Conduct site visits, field measurements, and on-site installation oversight.

Administrative & Office Support

  • Manage accurate project budgets and assist in maintaining financial oversight.
  • Facilitate client onboarding/offboarding processes, working within JGD’s CRM and systems to maintain streamlined workflows.
  • Regularly communicate project updates and challenges to the Principal and design team; attend weekly team meetings.

Marketing & Social Media

  • Collaborate with the Principal and social media support staff to create engaging content for platforms like Instagram and Facebook.
  • Assist with styling and coordinating photoshoots for completed projects.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 3 years of interior design experience, with a focus on kitchen, bath, or home renovation projects.
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, 3D rendering, Google Workspace, and SketchUp.
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop, Canva, and social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook).
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable learning new software and tools as needed.
  • Strong skills in material and product sourcing, specification writing, and custom furniture/millwork detailing.
  • Experience reviewing and annotating construction drawings and shop drawings.
  • Exceptional design, presentation, and client communication skills.
  • High attention to detail, ensuring both creative excellence and technical accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities; proven capacity to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, process-oriented, and able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Comfortable creating content for social media and working as part of a team on public-facing communications.

What We Offer

  • Pay Rate: $38–$45 per hour (depending on experience and skill set).
  • Schedule: Part-time (24–32 hours/week) with flexible, hybrid work model (minimum of 2 days per week in-office).
  • Technology: Laptop provided for remote work.

Benefits

  • 3 weeks paid vacation (prorated based on work hours/week), including the week between Christmas and New Year’s.
  • Paid sick leave.
  • Paid personal days.
  • Paid mileage for company-related driving.
  • Employee discount on goods and materials.
  • Flexible work schedule to support work-life balance.
  • Supportive team environment with opportunities for growth and advancement.
