Basic Job Duties of the Underground Miner:
· Performs various general/manual labor duties on frequent basis such as shoveling; applying rock dust; gathering and delivering supplies and materials; greasing conveyor belt rollers; tail pieces and head drives; assisting other miners in performing their duties, etc.
· Assists in moving the section, which primarily involves installing/retrieving mine conveyor belt, associated structure and devices, and moving up/pulling back the section main electrical power distribution center, battery chargers and associated electrical cables.
· Operates rubber tired, battery powered scoop to clean mine bottom, haul supplies and materials from place to place and remove trash and other debris from inside mine.
· Conducts pre-operational visual, physical and operational checks on machine and visually and physically examine conditions of face, roof and ribs of each place being cleaned.
· Transports machine from place to place safely and efficiently.
· Assists in moving section equipment in working face area, maintaining temporary and permanent ventilation controls, hanging of equipment trailing cables from mine roof.
· Relieves other equipment operators on as needed basis.
· Performs routine maintenance, including cleaning, on a machine.
· Operates diesel powered, rubber-tired forklift to load supplies in outside mine yard into scoop bucket.
· Conducts all work activities in compliance with Federal and State coal mining laws and Company policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
Skills/Training for the Underground Miner
· Driver's License (Required)
· High school or equivalent (Required)
· Ability / willingness to work any shift assigned (days, swings and graves (Required)
· MSHA Certification (Preferred) (We can train if necessary)
· Ability to work well in a team environment.
· Work in a fast-paced, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team.
· Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly and up to 80 pounds on occasion.
· Must be able to pass a drug screen, and background check.
Physical Requirements for the Underground Miner
· Ability to work up to 12 hour shifts, both days or nights
· Ability to routinely lift 50 lbs.
· Ability to pass drug screen
· Ability to work within confined spaces and in the low light
· Ability to kneel, bend and stoop down for prolonged periods of time.
· Ability to work free of any medications, OTC drugs, or other supplements that impede concentrations, focus, judgment, observation, or otherwise perform all work tasks safely.
Schedule of the Underground Miner:
- Morning, Evening, Graveyard (required)
Compensation of the Underground Miner:
· $26-28 DOE
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $26.00 - $28.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
