Mid-sized manufacturing company is seeking to fill a Maintenance Technician- Level 1 position at its plant in the Cedar Bluff, VA area. This is an entry-level, training maintenance position where the employee possesses fundamental mechanical knowledge to perform inside/outside routine maintenance or preventive maintenance for building(s), grounds, machines, and equipment that includes setup and adjustments for production runs and installation/repair of machines and equipment following standard operating and safety procedures. Employee may interact with vendors to obtain estimates and submits orders for repair parts and supplies as needed.
High School/GED Required

- Dependability to be consistent at work and on time with ability to work 40 flexible schedule as required
- Ability to read and comprehend written instruction; follow verbal directives; follow general and maintenance specific safety procedures and guidelines
- Functional mathematical ability including knowledge of fractions and decimals to perform basic math calculations and measurement computing using tape measure and/or micrometers
- Functional mechanical knowledge with ability to develop good fabricating and trouble-shooting skills including pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Working knowledge of operational functions for general maintenance equipment including cranes, forklifts, milling machines, lathes, welding and cutting equipment, and hand/power tools
- Basic computer skills A “Team Member” mentality with a QA/safety-oriented mindset when performing maintenance duties or operational instruction
- Self-motivational skills to perform duties with direct supervision when required with ability to multi-task and perform well under pressure
- Functional communications skills to interact with management, co-workers, and outside vendors
- Close visual acuity, near/far vision, and multiple limb coordination
- Manual dexterity and moderate/heavy (up to 80 lbs) lifting capability while performing essential job duties
- Repetitive standing, walking, and/or bending capability during normal phase duties
Job Requirements:
- High School/GED Required
- Valid Driver’s License Required
- One-to-Two (1-2) Years Maintenance-Related Experience Required
- Twenty-four to Thirty-Six (24-36) Months On-The-Job Training Required
