This newly created position is an excellent career opportunity for an experienced candidate. In this role, you will provide fire protection consulting services on a client site. You will play a leading role in engaging a team of engineers and specialty consultants in collaborating with building owners, developers, architects, engineers, contractors, and clients on a variety of projects
Responsibilities
- Perform professional-level fire protection engineering services such as life safety code consulting, fire protection design, fire alarm/mass notification design, smoke control design, hazardous materials consulting, system commissioning services, and performance-based solution development.
- Develop plans, specifications, and inspection reports as needed on assigned tasks to see that these items are complete, accurate and in accordance with good professional service practice standards.
- Assist in the resolution of design problems by performing field investigations, research, detailed design work, and/or detailed review of design computations done by others.
- Identify applicable codes and standards to reference in evaluating how to respond to inquiries.
- Conduct and document basic building code analyses, egress analyses, fire detection and alarm systems reviews, smoke control systems reviews, and basic sprinkler and water supply systems reviews, including hydraulic calculations.
- Effectively communicate with team members, clients, owners, design teams, and/or other project stakeholders.
- Position may involve some CAD/Revit production and/or reviewing CAD/Revit documents produced by others.
- Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Manage projects including proposal development; scope, schedule, and budget management; resource coordination; deliverable milestone tracking; and client interaction.
- Participate in business development activities including, but not necessarily limited to client outreach, conference attendance, professional organization participation, and/or presentations.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) or higher.
- 5 years of experience in fire protection engineering (compensation and title commensurate with experience).
- Licensed as a professional engineer in the State of Colorado.
- Demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills to write reports, business correspondence, presentations and procedure manuals, and to respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and/or other project stakeholders.
- Must be local to the Denver, CO area or willing to relocate.
- The ability to travel to job sites in Colorado and surrounding states is required.
