Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled mid-to-senior level CAD Designer to join our Las Vegas, NV or Phoenix, AZ team focusing on the design and drafting of fire alarm, sprinkler or security systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of engineering principles, CAD software proficiency, and a commitment to delivering accurate and timely design solutions for life safety systems.
Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed design drawings and specifications using CAD software for fire alarm, sprinkler, or security systems based on project requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure designs meet project specifications, industry standards, and local regulations.
- Perform site surveys to inspect and evaluate building features and systems.
- Modify and update existing drawings to reflect as-built conditions or changes during the project lifecycle.
- Perform calculations for sprinkler system hydraulics and ensure compliance with NFPA codes and standards.
- Create detailed layouts, schematics, and diagrams for installations, including electrical wiring and piping.
- Maintain organized and accurate project documentation, ensuring all files are up-to-date and accessible.
- Review plans for quality, accuracy, and adherence to customer and code requirements.
- Associate’s degree or technical certification in CAD, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in CAD drafting, preferably in fire protection or security systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or other CAD software.
- Familiarity with NFPA standards and other building codes.
- NICET certification in fire alarm or special hazards system design, water-based systems and/or security systems is required.
- Knowledge of fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems or security system components.
- Familiarity with low-voltage electrical systems.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to present clearly and technically sound design strategies.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
