As a field service engineer in the Portland, Oregon area you will travel daily to customer sites to install scientific instruments and provide hands on technical support, routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair electron microscopes for clients.Field Service Responsibilities : Install new or modified electron microscopes at customer's facility to ensure full functionality according to specificationsIndependently diagnose and repair electron microscopes within the territoryinspect malfunctioning instrument to determine nature and scope of problemCommunicate with clients, vendors, supervisors and any other persons or organizations with whom interaction is required to accomplish workExercise discretion and independent judgment in resolving problemsProvide on-site technical assistance to troubleshoot and repair equipmentComplete and submit field service reports and weekly expense reportsField Service Requirements : Associate’s degree in engineering and / or science6 months electronics or related experience and / or trainingExcellent customer service skillsHands-on technical experience with installation and repair of equipmentKnowledge of and ability to apply analog, digital, and RF electronicsA basic understanding of troubleshooting techniques and approachesA valid driver's license and passport are requiredUp to 30% overnight travel is anticipatedJEOL offers : Competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package401K plan with a matchCompany carOpportunities for advancementAbout JEOL : Since 1949, the JEOL legacy has been one of providing solutions for innovation.
